Brief Biography of Olisemeka Obeche

Personal Background:
Born on December 12, 1979, in the vibrant community of Umuoba Anam in Otuocha, Anambra State, Nigeria, Olisemeka Sunday Nnamdi Obeche is the proud first son of late timber merchant James Nwabunwanne Okeke and late tailor Mrs. Justina Uzoamaka Okeke. He belongs to the distinguished Umuajando royal kindred of Umuezeanya Village, a lineage renowned for producing HRH Igwe Rapael Anijah, Obagu I, the first Paramount Ruler of Umuoba Agu Anam Ancient Kingdom.

Educational Journey
Olisemeka’s quest for knowledge began at Central School, Umuoba Anam, where he earned his First School Leaving Certificate in 1992. His academic path continued through Community Secondary School, culminating in a Senior Secondary School Certificate in 1999.

Eager to dive into the world of communication, Olisemeka pursued an Ordinary National Diploma in Mass Communication at the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) in Enugu, graduating with Upper Credit in 2001. A pivotal moment came during his industrial training at Delta Broadcasting Service (DBS), Asaba, before he completed a Higher National Diploma at Federal Polytechnic Oko, achieving Upper Credit once more.

After a unique 16-year break, he reignited his educational journey at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), securing a Postgraduate Diploma in Mass Communication and now finalizing his Master’s degree. He also enhanced his entrepreneurial skills through a program at Onitsha Business Schools’ Industrial Skills Acquisition and Application Center (ISAAC) in March 2025.

Journalism Career
Olisemeka’s vibrant journalism career launched in academia as the Editor-in-Chief of the Federal Polytechnic Oko Press Club in 2004/2005. He made waves by founding The Dawn Magazine for Umuoba Anam Students in 2006. His NYSC served as a springboard for his skills; he breezed through as Editor-in-Chief of Ogunkopa Magazine, leading his camp’s passing-out publication with flair.

In 2008, he became a correspondent for the Daily Independent in Lagos, delving into politics and civil society until late 2008 when he resigned to join the Development Economic Resource (DER) Limited, a Pan African Private Media organization, where he climbed from Staff Writer to Assistant Editor, adeptly covering global economic events for seven years, including major summits by the AfDB and IMF. He covered high profile global meetings in different parts of the world including Japan, United States of America, Turkey, Peru, India, Portugal etc.

In 2017, fueled by a passion for community journalism, he returned to Anambra as News Editor for Orient Daily newspaper, where he transformed it into a regional powerhouse before stepping down in 2021 due to administrative hurdles.

Current Role & Contributions
Since June 2021, Olisemeka has been the Zonal Technical Communication Officer for ATASP-1 (Adani-Omor Zone). Here, he crafts compelling communication strategies, produces engaging multimedia content, and drives stakeholder engagement. His role spans facilitating agricultural workshops and fostering partnerships with NGOs and media to enhance program visibility and impact.

Community Engagement
Olisemeka is dedicated to giving back to his community. He serves as the General Secretary of Umuezeanya Village and its Youth Association, PRO for the Elites Youths of Anam Foundation (EYAF), and Head of Media for the Anam People’s Assembly. Additionally, he acts as the Media Officer for LIFEWS Foundation, focusing on food and water security, and the Ikenga Abiama Dynasty Foundation. Notably, he co-founded Cornerstone Communications Ltd., which publishes the AnambraDaily blog.

Family Life
Olisemeka is happily married to Edith Oluchukwu Obeche, and together they are proud parents to four wonderful children, grounding his professional achievements in a loving family foundation. He is also a traditional chief under the customs and traditions of Umuoba Anam Ancient Kingdom and bears the title of Kwuo-Mee. He is also an Ambassador of the
Kingdom of David, as well as Prime Minister of Ikenga Abiama Dynasty Foundation.
